Dangers in the American Diet

We don’t normally think of our food supply as having any dangers in it and yet, the way that food is processed can be as dangerous as tainted food itself. Processed foods often have flavor enhancers that pose a threat to the brain. The reason is simple: the flavor enhancers are often derivatives of monosodium glutamate, which is a potent excitotoxin. Many of these excitotoxins are often stealth excitotoxins, and are given harmless sounding names like “natural flavor” and “hydrolyzed vegetable protein,” etc.

According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, a brain scientist and researcher, these excitotoxins literally stimulate brain neurons to death. Aspartame (NutraSweet), cysteine and aspartic acid are other examples of neurotoxins that damage the brain in a fairly short period of time. These Excitotoxins seem to be everywhere in processed foods: soups and chips, snack foods, beans and prepared foods. The cost is enormous. The only safe course is to read the label, and exclude foods that contain these excitotoxins from our diets.

Then there are the growth hormones found in cow’s milk that stimulate the growth of cancer cells. It just so happens that we share a powerful growth hormone with cows called IGF-1. The technical name is: insulin-like growth factor. This hormone in cows and is designed to make a baby calf grow to a large cow in only 45 days! It turns out that when adult humans take in relatively large amounts of this hormone, we make it possible for any cancerous cells that we may have to grow very quickly.

In other words, IGF-1 is rocket fuel for cancer! Now the dairy industry has decided that it would be a good idea to increase milk production so that profits may increase. And chemical companies like Monsanto have provided growth hormones that can be injected into cattle to increase milk production. When these hormones are injected into cows, the IGF content in the milk they produce increases significantly. And the risk for cancers that grow out of control also increases.

If you think that you must drink the body fluids of another species, then consider goat’s milk, which has no IFGF-1 in the milk. But there is another danger in cow’s milk derivatives like cheese and ice cream. That danger is IGF-1 concentration. It takes 10 pounds of milk to make a pound of cheese. It also takes 12 pounds of milk to make a pound of ice cream. When we eat those milk derivatives, we dramatically increase the IGF-1 that we ingest, and thus increase the risk for cancer.

Then there is the casein (a protein) in cow’s milk, which is the number one cause of allergies in the US. It also turns out that casein, in the experiments done by Dr. Colin Campbell of Cornell University, is a potent stimulator for the growth of cancer cells. His findings are published in the book “The China Study,” and presented visually in the documentary “Forks over Knives.” This evidence is hard to refute, and we as Americans need to pay special attention to these warnings about the dangers in our food supply.

Another area of concern is the hydrogenated fat in processed foods. The research data shows that these kinds of artificial fats are very efficient at driving the Metabolic Syndrome diseases: diabetes, hypertension heart disease, high cholesterol and obesity, and should be avoided. Take stock of your diet… make sure that these dangers are eliminated so you and yours can enjoy freedom from disease, and experience good health.
